Ese potrero está separado en 5 patios, al que los pollos tendrá. Acceso durante una semana, luego se les da acceso al siguiente y así en una rotación, los pollos alcanzan llegar a termino y los patios tienen más de un mes para volver a crecer.

He tenido asta 150 aves en esa casilla, normalmente traigo 100 o 120, pero con los precios como están hoy, es muy difícil producir en cantidad, requiere un costo alto de inversión y un precio incierto de venta, aparte de que es más difícil el manejo de la cama para esa densidad.

Por eso está tanda traje solo 50!

After a month, ones they are strong i bring them to that farm. They stay in a pen for a wild, specially now with the new puppys 2 small border colie a only few months old.

For the Broilers the story is different. I order baby chicks from a local supplier. I brood them in a old camper trailer, with a propane heater and a led light. The run is split in 5 different areas, ones the chicks are 20 30 days old, we rotate the birds, opening one patio per week, giving time to the grass to recover, in a way that the birds never come back to the same patio, before going to the freezer.

With the bedding, we start a new compost pile every week. Wich we then use it to add in the patios, but there is too much for the area, so we end up storing them everywhere, under trees, tarps, in the forest, in the driveway. We let it age for a few months before using them for starting seeds but we can mulch right away, if we need it.

A perfect close loop would be if I grew all the chicken feed. But perfect is overrated, for me 7 is the new 10! Also, I am looking to liss 2 hectares to grow some corn and other grains hopefully, this is the year I can finally do it. This is to explain, that a some what close loop means that you have inputs to the system and that is normally expensive, or is hard to do. In the case of the Broilers, being 70% of the cost just on feed, means I'm not in control of cost of production, and that isn't a nice place to be. Doesn't means that I shouldn't rase broilers, just that I gotta be prepared.

¡Es obvio que los huevos llegaron mucho antes que las gallinas! Muchos animales anteriores a las gallinas procedían de huevos, reptiles, pájaros, peces. Eso es un hecho. Pero para mi proyecto, comenzamos con los huevos de gallina. Aquí tenemos un par de opciones, una gallina clueca, o con una amiga, tenemos una incubadora funcionando todo el tiempo, elijo huevos de mis gallinas favoritas y los preparo para un viaje de 21 días hacia una nueva vida. Después de un mes, los que están fuertes los traigo a esa granja. Se quedan en un corral por un tiempo, especialmente ahora con cachorritos nuevos, 2 pequeños border colie de solo unos meses.

Para los pollos de engorde la historia es diferente. Encargo pollitos a un proveedor local. Los crío en una vieja casa rodante, con un calentador a gas y una luz LED. El corral se divide en 5 áreas diferentes, una ves los pollitos tienen plumas, les damos paso a un patio por semana, dando tiempo al pasto para que se recupere, de manera que las aves nunca vuelvan al mismo patio , antes de ir al congelador. Con la cama de los pollos, comenzamos una nueva pila de compost cada semana. Que luego lo usamos para agregar en los patios, pero hay demasiado para el área, por lo que terminamos almacenándolos en todas partes, debajo de los árboles, lonas, en el bosque, en el camino de entrada. Lo dejamos envejecer durante unos meses antes de usarlos para comenzar las semillas, pero podemos utilizarlo de inmediato, si lo necesitamos. Un ciclo cerrado perfecto sería producir todo el alimento para pollos. Pero lo perfecto está sobrevalorado, para mí el 7 es el nuevo 10! Además, estoy buscando arrendar 2 hectáreas para cultivar algo de maíz y otros granos, con suerte, este es el año en que finalmente puedo hacerlo. Esto es para explicar que un ciclo cerrado significa que tiene entradas para el sistema y eso normalmente es costoso o difícil de hacer. En el caso de los pollos de engorde, tenemos el 70 % del costo solo en el alimento significa que no tengo el control del costo de producción, y ese no es un buen lugar para estar. No significa que no deba criar pollos de engorde, solo que debo estar preparado. Ya les iré enseñando cuando tenga los pollitos y los diferentes patios…

Es más fácil tener los ideales guardados en un archivo. Nadie los ve a no ser que se los muestre. Conseguir el certificado es fácil, simplemente requiere coherencia entre lo que pienso y lo que hago, pero con un factor agregado, que lo transforma en un testamento. Una declaración pública, una promesa ante todos en esta comunidad que es más fuerte que cualquier individuo, que voy a producir alimentos y plantas medicinales de la más alta calidad posible, regenerando el paisaje, y compartiendo lo que voy aprendiendo, con los que me acompañan y mucho más… ya está teniendo un efecto positivo, hoy leyendo los papeles y el acuerdo, me di cuenta del trabajo que me queda por delante. Mañana después de las tareas de la mañana voy a limpiar y ordenar en toda la granja. Prometí a la comunidad mantenerlo lo más limpio y agradable posible. Mañana tengo invitados para cenar, mesa para 8! El cordero está en el menú, así como el conejo y el pollo, con 3 o 4 ensaladas de la huerta,que esta más grande que nunca y la abundancia se refleja en la mesa todos los días. Obtaining the certificate is easy, it simply requires consistency between what I think and what I do, but with an added factor, which transforms it into a statement. A public declaration, a promise before everyone in this community that is stronger than any individual, that I will produce food and medicinal plants of the highest quality possible, regenerating the landscape, and sharing what I am learning with those who accompany me and much more… it's already having a positive effect, today reading the papers and the agreement, I realized the work ahead. Tomorrow after the morning shores I gonna pick and lean all around the farm. I promise to the community to keep it clean and nice as possible. Tomorrow I have guests for dinner, table for 8! Lamb is on the menu, as well as rabbit and chicken, with 3 o 4 salada the garden is bigger than ever and the abundance is reflected on te table everyday.
